About the event

Event Details: 23rd October 2024, German Embassy in Warsaw, Poland

The event aims as well to increase the representation of circular building principles in Poland based on the best tailor-made solutions and German experiences, to enhance circular procurement, to encourage key players in the construction industry to use secondary materials and, finally, to increase the scale and volume of collection of materials for reuse and recycling, for example through regional material cadastres.The event is organized in cooperation with Embassy of Germany in Warsaw and intends to build a bridge between Polish and German representatives of various branches operating in the construction sector, across the whole value chain and establish a forum to discuss and work on the most promising solutions that will accelerate implementation of Fit for 55 package and thus effective transformation towards circular economy models with respect to the environmental, geopolitical, and social conditions occurring locally.

Format: an expert roundtable with participation of decision-makers representing the Ministry of Climate and Environment, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy, as well as representatives from local administrations.

Another invited participants among others are:

• The Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP)

• The Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development (IOER)

• Polish Green Council Building

• Building Research Institute

• Industrieverband Feuerverzinken e.V.

• Representatives of German businesses in construction industry

• German and Polish architects

In the first part, there will be a presentation showcasing key practices from Germany, and expert keynote speeches. This presentation will be followed by an expert roundtable discussion with the participation of Ministry representatives, focusing on implementing the best circular construction strategies, accelerating circular construction development, and establishing strong collaboration between Poland and Germany. The second panel will focus on selection and safe.

  • What we can do? Circular procurement, financing models, role of financial institutes.

12:15 – 12:30 Coffee break

12:30 – 13:45 Panel 2. How should we use circular and secondary building materials?

  • How to use materials from demolition?
  • Safety of secondary materials – can new technologies be developed?
  • Selection of low-carbon and circular building materials
  • Material cadastre
