About the event
Circular Energy Transition – Resource Optimization for Self-sufficiency
The transformation of the energy sector is one of the greatest challenges of our time. Achieving climate neutrality requires not only the integration of renewable sources but also the efficient use of critical raw materials, resource optimization, and strengthening the resilience and self-sufficiency of energy systems.Circular approaches – based on reuse, recovery, and system efficiency – play a key role in building a sustainable and secure energy future.
Session I – Systemic Approach to Energy Transformation
This session will address the relationship between energy transition, critical raw materials, and the self-sufficiency of energy systems. The session will consist of expert presentations followed by a panel discussion.
10:00 – 10:45 | Introductory presentations
prof. Krzysztof Pikoń – Silesian University of Technology
Kevin Rossi – Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) – researcher on the topic; potentially interested in participation
10:45 – 11:30 | Panel discussion
Moderator: prof. Krzysztof Pikoń – Silesian University of Technology
Panelists:
Tomasz Jarmicki – Director for Innovation, Polish Oil and Gas Company (PGNiG)
Bogdan Ślęk – Signify Poland sp. z o.o. (participation covered as part of the Dutch delegation)
Bartosz Dubiński – Mazovian Energy Agency
Nina Vielen-Kallio – Independent expert (formerly Director of Circularity at ECHT)
Kevin Rossi – Delft University of Technology (TU Delft)
11:30 – 11:45 | Coffee break
Session II – Challenges of Energy Transformation in the Agricultural Sector
11:45 – 12:30 | Introductory presentation
Jouke Campen – Programme Manager for Energy Transition, Wageningen University & Research
Panel discussion:
Representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and/or Ministry of Climate and Environment / Ministry of Energy
Mariusz Matyka – Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation – State Research Institute (IUNG-PIB)
Wiktor Szmulewicz – President, National Council of Agricultural Chambers (Krajowa Rada Izb Rolniczych – KRIR)
Paweł Strauchmann – Product Development Manager, Rijk Zwaan Poland sp. z o.o.
Ireneusz Osękowski – General Manager, Koppert Polska sp. z o.o
Dawid Stopierzyński – Energy Expert, Koppert Polska sp. z o.o.
12:30 – 13:30 | Workshop
The second part will take the form of a workshop focused on the key barriers and challenges facing the agricultural sector during the energy transformation process.Participants will work in groups to identify obstacles (technical, regulatory, financial, and social) and propose practical solutions.Special attention will be given to energy efficiency and renewable integration—particularly in greenhouse production—which play a critical role
