Fab City Gathering 2026: Connecting Local Action with Global Networks for the Future of Fab Cities and Regions
30 October 2026 | Wuppertal, Germany
As part of European Circular Week 2026, the Fab Region Bergisches Städtedreieck and the Fab City Foundation host an on-site Fab City Gathering in Wuppertal, bringing together Fab Cities, Circular Cities, Fab Labs, Living Labs, creative hubs, municipalities, researchers, policymakers and practitioners from across Europe and beyond.
The programme addresses the Fab City Goals, Fab City Hubs, the Fab City Full Stack, policy and governance, and the PLANETAI Observatory, exploring how data, knowledge and global networks can help cities and regions connect local capacities and make more informed decisions towards circularity, resilience and self-sufficiency.
From Labs and local production spaces to repair, reuse and circular hubs, cities already host a diverse range of infrastructures driving sustainable transformation. The Gathering will explore how these existing capacities can become more visible, interconnected and embedded within broader city and regional strategies.
A central focus will be the relationship between local action and global collaboration: How can Fab Cities and Circular Cities learn from each other? How can data make local capacities and impact more visible and measurable? What governance structures are needed to sustain these initiatives over time? And how can global networks accelerate transformation while responding to the specific realities of each territory, with local labs and hubs acting as epicentres of resilience, experimentation and community-driven change?
We invite regional and global actors, city and regional governments, Fab Labs, Living Labs and creative hubs, researchers, policymakers and network coordinators to join this strategic exchange and help shape the next chapter of the Fab City movement.
Participation is on-site; registration is required due to limited venue capacity.
